INGO WEIGEL

Growing up in former East Germany, martial arts were limited and controlled by the iron fist of the communist government. Ingo Weigel boxed his way through the ring only to find himself looking for better answers. After the wall came down in 1989, Weigel studied an ancient martial art. He started his own journey with a friend and colleague to create a program that can be learned and applied effectively in the 21st century.

They soon recognized the importance of natural and healthy body mechanics and how it influences the effective training of self-defense. After many years of study, trial and error Revat was born. Revat is highly effective and based on principles that can be applied easily to one’s height and fitness level. Revat is ideal for professional adults living in an urban environment. It also can compliment traditional and mixed martial arts due to its unique focus on tactile reflex training.

In 2000, Ingo Weigel decided to leave Germany and opened Chicago’s first Self-Defense Training Center offering regular group classes, private instructions and corporate workshops. Ingo is fluent in English and German.

Ingo Weigel is the author of “SELF-DEFENSE FOR MODERN TIMES”, the first book on Revat, an innovative fitness and self-defense program for professional adults living in an urban environment.

CHARLES RYAN

Charles Ryan started his training in martial arts twenty years ago. He fought and competed in different styles. His dedication and enthusiasm helped him to achieve a blackbelt in Taekwondo and Jiu Jitsu.

In 2003, he met Ingo Weigel, a martial arts instructor who had recently moved here from Germany. After an impressive demonstration and a very convincing workout session, Charles knew he had found a more effective martial art. He immediately became a private student of Ingo Weigel and has been learning and training ever since.

In 2008, Charles Ryan achieved his 4th degree Master level in Revat. This makes him one of the highest leveled instructors for realistic self-defense.

KEVIN WILSON

Kevin has extensive training in Jeet Kune Do, Karate, Tai Chi and Ju Jitsu. “… but something was missing. I couldn’t put my finger on it until I came across Revat…” Kevin started his training in Revat in 2006. With revat he found a creative outlet that challenges him physically and mentally.

“I live on Chicago’s south side. One night on my way home from work a couple of guys noticed me walking through the park. They tried to rob me but I was able to defend the attacks and countered with rapid punches. The guys finally left me alone and I was unharmed. I truly contribute the outcome of this situation to my training in Revat.”
